Who we are
Hey there! I’m Michael, your home inspector! I started MACH Inspections back in 2018 and have been madly in love with the industry every since. Although I do sometimes question my life choices in 145 degree attics, or tight dirty crawlspaces, I still love what I do and wouldn’t trade it for anything.
A little about me:
I grew up on the other side of the country helping my dad around the house doing all sorts of projects, from cleaning the gutters, working on the family cars, or renovating a flooded basement. I picked up a lot of handy skills in my youth, and learned a lot of patience, which I think have helped me tremendously as a human being, and a business owner.
When I moved to the PNW, I started working professionally in construction, learning new things every day working under a 30 year union carpenter. We did all kinds of projects, from renovating bathrooms, building out industrial offices, tearing down old stadiums, and everything in between. But something was missing, I didn’t get to interact with people like I used to when I was a bartender in college, or teach people like I got to do as a volunteer for the SCCA teaching teen drivers car control skills. I needed more!
And that’s how I came to Home Inspections, I could chat with folks about something I have an intimate knowledge of (houses), and help explain to them in normal words what they should know. Years of working in the restaurant industry helped me hone my people skills, and I get a lot of positive feedback about how much people enjoy our reviews at the end of the inspection.
Fast forward a couple thousand inspections, and you’re here! I’ve traversed houses all over the city, from brand new construction to homes from the 1800’s (1885 is the oldest one i’ve inspected, neat) i’ve seen a lot of different variations on defects. It helps me better understand how houses age and settle and deal with environmental factors. There’s a lot of history to draw from, and it’s so much fun to investigate and connect the dots of the how and why things are the way they are.
Anyway, that’s enough hyping myself up for one web page.
I hope to see you at a home inspection soon!
